Autumn is the time of year to dress our shaker peg racks with cozy woolen clothing but don’t forget about adding some leather Victorian era boots nearby to complete this warm theme. These boots will make a perfect transition into Halloween as well because they have also been called “Witches Boots” as the contributing attributes equal…… tall form, pointed toes and lace up capability. I believe they are either a women’s size 4 or 5 but please see measurements below for more detail.
The chocolate brown hue along with a lighter nutmeg color on the base lend a slight contrast that adds interest to the overall look. The upper portion of this piece has all the interesting earmarks of wear including the cracked leather (alligator) appearance that adds delicious character! A portion of the shoe lace on the left boot is missing so I added some chocolate brown, wool yarn to finish and complete its journey toward the top as shown in image 12.
The leather soles sport tiny nails around the edge along with hand stitching done by an experienced cobbler. The left shoe has a worn mark just above the heel as shown in images 14 & 15 as do the toes of both boots. All leather seems intact without any holes, rips or tears. They are in good overall condition and make for a terrific display!
I added a tiny calico print fabric that boasts a rich bittersweet color and tucked this into the opening of the boot to create autumn flavor that can carry over to Halloween. All you need is a broomstick and possibly a witches hat laid nearby to create magic in your home for this special time of year! Oh and don’t forget to incorporate a wee fabric primitive mouse peeking out from the top of the boot! Enjoy!
Boots stand 11” tall including the fabric, measures 3” across the widest point of the foot and tapers to 1” near the toe area, heel stands 1 ¼” and measures 2” across (where it meets the top of the boot), top opening where the fabric is located measures 3” across (right to left) and the sole measures 9 ¼” from tip of toe to the back of the heel.
