Wool Applique Rug Autumn Pumpkin Crow Stunning

Regular price $125.50

What a gorgeous, entirely hand stitched rug lending brilliant jewel tone fall colors that is worked using different fabrics such as wool, velvet and homespun! This textile explodes with interesting “whimsey stitches” and each time you look at it there is something else that seems to catch your eye!

Hand stitched curly stems seem to sprout from every pumpkin while cattails and crows surprise us at random residing just above. Each wing was appliqued separately to the crows body while the green velvet gourds take on a variegated look. Maple leaves also dot the landscape as they were added as an extra design element over the existing pumpkins lending plenty of dimension in this work of art.

The ends were finished by using a blanket stitch and the underside bears a neutral appearance of black and ecru checked homespun fabric. A piece of green thread has worked its way into the homespun on the back as shown in image 15. There are so many fabulous design elements going on that capture the essence of autumn portrayed in this amazing textile.

The middle of this rug was left plain for the possibility of a wooden or stoneware bowl such as Rockingham glaze as pictured. A trencher or an oval pewter tray would also be a perfect complement for this space. This textile is in very good condition without any holes, rips or stains to report while no odors are present either.

This stellar rug will make a statement not only for autumn but for Thanksgiving as well. What a great presentation this would make on a table with small pumpkins sprinkled nearby as well as battery operated pillar candles set in the middle to offer a charming glow for that special holiday dinner. Enjoy!

Rug measures 31 ½” tall and measures 18 ½” front to back.
