Beautiful late 19th century Tavern Pot or measure attributed to James Yates, Birmingham England accented with greens having whispers of sparkle, crimson red berries, an authentic turkey feather, early coverlet mat and German Putz sheep. Measure is marked 1/2” pint capacity just below the Hallmark of Yates.
Sought after dark gunmetal grey patina along with a decorative raised double banded feature near the bottom makes for an interesting piece. Applied handle shows an elongated raised area with evident solder marks near the top where the ½ pint mark is located. Good condition less on minor indent on the second band (left hand side) near the handle.
Putz sheep sporting a red lipstick mouth is wearing her festive red collar and is of the smaller variety. Good condition as there are no chips on her ears and her legs are secure.
Perfect for a tavern table or in your kitchen window that will create holiday magic in your lovely home and can also be displayed during the dreary winter months!
Overall height including the turkey feather is 11” tall, tavern pot stands 3 ¾” tall, measures 2 ¾” across the top opening and measures 3” across the bottom.
