What witch would not want to take a midnight ride on this enchanting broom decorated for autumn (although it would have to be a midget witch as this broom is not full size). It dates from late 19th to early 20th century and is in good overall condition.
Some of the stitching when I purchased this broom was missing that held the sorghum in place on the left hand side. To remedy this problem I added Scottish wool in the middle that was hand stitched using black thread on the backside. This wool sporting glorious earth tones creates a soft look while adding color. Corn shucks, broom corn and wheat were bound together in the center and added by way of thread to the wool base.
The wooden turned broom handle incorporates a nice decorative element to the overall look. An addition of wire wrapping to secure the sorghum to the handle was done twice. There is slight sorghum loss as expected but the broom shows well especially near the hearth with perhaps pumpkins placed nearby.
This broom would look perfect with a pair of witches boots we are also offering in another listing. Enjoy!
Broom stands 25” tall, measures 9” @ the widest point bottom, measures 7” in the middle location and the handle measures 1” across @ the widest point.
